Child Obesity

Recently before My spouse and i transferred to SIUE, I was a receptionist for SIU University of Medicine's Pediatric Office. I was exposed to children with autism, embrionario alcohol syndrome, pre-maturity, and much more other types of children's diseases. Although I was exposed to so many different types of the child years disorders although working in the clinic, every day I would get a different kid being diagnosed with obesity. Overweight in children has become more of a norm in the last few decades, and we as a society need to discover a way to treat and prevent this issue. One certain case is child I recall coming in to clinic called Jennifer. Jennifer was about 9 years old and between four and five feet tall. She acessed one hundred and fifty pounds, which is about eighty pounds higher than what she is supposed to be for her age. Because Jennifer was miserably overweight on her behalf height and age the girl was necessary to come in for weekly excess weight checks which has a physician to verify that she was losing any weight. Jennifer is a good example of this weight problems dilemma that made me thinking about this theme.

At this point in my research, I really wanted to get some info that showed the increase in child unhealthy weight. I was shocked on how very much information there was available on this kind of topic, and apparently I had been not the first to notice this kind of trend in America's children. According to the College or university of Michigan, in the years 2003-2004, 18. 1% of children and teenagers, aged 2-19 years (faster than 12 and a half million young people) had been overweight. Unhealthy weight is common enough among children and has gotten therefore out of control within the last twenty years that individuals can ponder over it an epidemic.  " Studies demonstrate a remarkable rise in the quantity of obese children in the last few decades in the United States. Among 1980 and 2000 overweight rates bending among kids and tripled among teens” (Boyse).
