share the room

There are so many distractions in life that can steal you away from union with God. It takes a certain level of intentionality to stay in lockstep with the King. Sometimes I get lost in dreaming of what adventures lie ahead, and I forget His love is present and for me in the here and now.

How can I possibly hold onto an awareness of His reckless, raging love, when daily tasks and responsibilities consume the day? It's like watching a movie, with Jesus sitting next to you, but you're so lost in the story you forget He's there.

Often, we simply forget to share the room.

love will always win the day

We mourn the loss, the destruction. We weep with those who weep.

It is not hatred that will rise from the aftermath, it is love that rises.

Love is the rising tide that will cover the earth from east to west.  And while hatred may scream and thrash and grasp to remain in the light of day, it will be drowned in the abundance of love.

Our song is one of victory, of peace, of love.  It's pure and true and the sound can not be stopped. Our song is one that was sung in the beginning, and it will resound through the end of ages.

While hatred may shout and try to shake us from this hope, this love, our response is strong and loud...

Love will always win the day.

in a cambodian village

There's a difference between walking with Jesus, and walking with someone who walks with Jesus.  A good mentor will lead you to the source, not just give you a cold glass of water every time you're thirsty.

I met a man in a country that is 0.4% Christian, and yet he somehow exemplified the love of Jesus, and the walk of Jesus, better than anyone I'd ever met... and I grew up in a country where 83% of the population identify themselves as Christian.

Yewee walks with Jesus.  He drinks water right from the Source.

the dreams we never dream

Never let finances restrict your dreaming.  Seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and all things will be added to you.  Is there anything too hard for the Lord?

If food and shelter was taken care of everyday for you and your family, what would you do on a daily basis?  I wonder what God-given dreams may be unlocked when we begin to trust God at His word?

"Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on... Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.  Are you not of more value than they? ...Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you." (Matthew 6:25-33)

rise up

What is it in your life that keeps you in the hospital bed, instead of on the battlefield?

Depression?  Debt?  Lust?  Fear?  Regret?

"The Kingdom of God has a hospital, but we're not a hospital.  So get your healing and get back to the fight... someone else needs the bed!" (Andrew Shearman).

I wonder, who in this generation will rise up outta the dust and do whatever it takes to see His Kingdom come and His will be done on earth as it is in heaven?

what keeps you up at night

In 2009, I volunteered a month of my time at a hospital in Guatemala for malnourished babies. We changed diapers and bathed them, and they had to be spoon-fed every two hours to bring them back to healthy weight.

My team and I took turns in 8 hour shifts, so there was always someone there to feed and comfort the babies. Their bodies were so tiny and frail.  One of the babies was rescued from a city dumpster. Poverty is a viscous beast.

I remember holding my hand above one of the babies and twirling my fingers to the rhythm of my voice, singing his name over and over to help him to fall asleep. "Jose, Joseeee Jose Joseeee, Joseee".

These are the memories I cherish the most. And these are the experiences that forever changed me.

Hunger, and poverty, and injustice... they are just ideas until there is a name and face attached to it.

There is work to be done.

Find a cause that ignites your heart and get moving.

love is all

Sometimes I get so focused on wanting to see His kingdom come, wanting to accomplish things for God, dreaming of ideas to help reverse poverty and fight injustice... I forget God wants to have a relationship with me.

I often pray to ask for something, or to seek direction for the future, but rarely do I pray to simply hear His voice.

I was captured by love many years ago. My walk with God takes many twists and turns, but He is always reminding me that love is all.

back to the garden

Where have you settled?

Are you living in the Garden, walking hand in hand with God, or have you settled in the land of Nod, away from the presence of the Lord?

The enemy always questions what God said, and whether God's intentions are good. "Did God really say?"

I ask the question, "What did God say?"  Not to question God but to help you get back to the last thing He spoke. Where there is no vision the people perish.

What did God say? What is He saying?
